Look up Donny Thompson on Elite fitness. He's a westside style powerlifter but uses kettlebells alot. I want some too, just to play with. I have an old one but can't really do the juggling like a with a russian kettlebell with it because it's plate loaded and would rip my arm to shreds. I play around with a old beer keg filled with water and a old 55 # anvil too for grip strength. Here's some really good links for Kettlebell and powelifting. Pavel's books are good too. I got them from the library. http://www.westside-barbell.com/ http://www.elitefts.com/ http://danjohn.org/ http://www.testosterone.net/ http://www.dieselcrew.com/ http://www.defrancostraining.com/index.htm http://www.deepsquatter.com/strength/archives/index.htm

I met Pavel at the Arnold show last year and he was at a Party for strongman guys at the hotel. (Mark Henry and Phil Phister were there too.) Anyway, he's amazingly small for as strong as he is, which is what he preaches in his books, Strength without size. Not really in line with my thinking. I still want the big arms and shoulders. I actually like being big, just not fat. I read all his books, mainly because our library system has them all. I wouldn't pay for them myself, but I found some interesting things. If you're going to do the kettlebells, he pretty much is the godfather of kettlebell training. He talks about the little things like how to not bang up your forearms and bracing yourself. I think the books are a little pricey though. I mean he has one book that does nothing but teach you how to do pushups and chin ups that cost 35.00. Come on! I want to learn the kettlebell juggling. It's a trip to watch someone juggle a 77 pound kettlebell like it's a toy. Earl

Ok Will, How's the pain meds going? I got some new toys. I'll post pictures later. Old Amish horse anchors that weigh 50# ea. About the size of a car battery with a built in handle...Just like a kettlebell. I was doing some of the classic kettlebell exercises and they're great. Antiques and cheaper than a kettlebell. Hope you're feeling better. Earl

Wow....this is the first time I have ever seen anything about kettlebells. I worked with a personal trainer recently for about 6 months that trained me with kettlebells (girly size of course, but kettle bells all the same). He was a marine and never failed to kick my ass. I honestly thought he had invented them simply to torture me with!! LOL Anyway, good luck with your training! Heather

Hi Heather They're just a new toy. Something different to keep the interest up. They've been around for centuries. There's nothing you can't do with kettlebells that you can't do with a Dumbbell or barbell. It is pretty cool to watch someone juggle them. Have a good workout. Earl
