No Pain No Gain?

I have not been to the gym in a while and know in the past that when I start a weight lifting routine the muscle pain is extream for several days after the first workout. Does anyone have any effective way of diminishing (not removing) the pain or do I just have to deal with it?

Thanks in advance.

lighter weights, and lots of stretching or Yoga will help.
Don't go in there and start by doing your maximum weight.  Give your body time to get used to doing it again.

Good luck,

My trainer told me to eat protein within 15 to 20 minutes of exercising. I can’t remember the exact explanation but it’s worth binging. Polly

Best thing is to just start over again. Only do 1 or 2 sets and use just warm up weights. Gradually over a couple of weeks or a month start adding sets, exercises and weight until you're up to were you left off.

Personally I'd do a short full body workout 3 days a week for at least 2 weeks and just doing 1 or 2 exercises per bodypart and just 1 or 2 sets for each exercise. Progress slowly and you won't get hurt or so sore you stop going the gym.
