Dynamic bike fit

I spent the morning getting a free dynamic bike fit by a certified SICI fitter with a master's degree in kinesiology. I won the fitting in a raffle at last week's half marathon. After a flexibility analysis, he hooked me up to a computer and videotaped me while pedaling to capture a variety of measurements.

We went through several cycles of tweaking my position and capturing data until he was satisfied with the numbers and I was comfortable on the bike.

He was able to fit me to my Cervelo P2 with its stock components, other than replacing the evil saddle that was pure torture. The fitter said it was like the P2 was custom made for me.

It was quite the learning experience. I walked out with new strength and flexibility exercises, along with drills to improve my pedaling technique. After I put these into practice and get out on the open road, I'll get to go back for a recheck to make sure I am dialed in for Ironman. It was a great experience.

Sounds like that was quite the prize!

I'm a little bit jealous.
