So coming back from an injury. Did my first time of working out multiple days in a row and so far so good. I had to take a lot of naps but my head seems okay.

Thurs. I did a spin class in the evening.

Friday I got up early for my normal Serious Strength workout

Saturday we did a Lactate Threshold test at the gym followed by a short (1 mile) run.

today is my rest day.

Hmmm.... intrigued by the LT test!

Saturday was rest day - bit of walking at the expo but that's about it.

Sunday (today) kicked major booty on the Shamrock 1/2 Marathon in VA Beach... smoked my prior PR by 11 min, to finish at 2:04:43! Good training, wise choices in food, and an excellent coach/buddy to get it DONE! Now going to update my ticker and crash.....

thought I was looking at a 4wk recovery from my shoulder surgery, but this past Thursday the physical therapist said I am looking at 4 MONTHS before I run, 6-9 months before I swim. Her goal for my May 2 visit is for me to be able to raise my hand over my head unassisted.  :(

So my half marathon on 3/29 had to be changed to the 5k walk, and I had to let my surgeon know not to bother coming out.  :(

Friday morning - Spinnerval class- just did the bike and modified the strength stuff to what I could do (squats, lunges)

Saturday - 5k walk ... was supposed to be a 10k run but had to change registration for that one too

Will have to DNS my tri in May.

Had a minor meltdown at my trainer's office Friday morning after class. I am absolutely terrified of no significant training for 4mths - my diet is going to have to change significantly to keep the weight off.

I know it doesn't seem like it now but at least with a shoulder surgery, you have a definite time line. I thought I was so lucky that I didn't break any bones with my bike crash but this whole brain injury thing is a major PITA. Because no one knows anything. When can I do this? Don't know. How long will it take to recover? Don't know. What should I do to recover faster? Just give it time. ARGH It's been almost 2.5 freaking YEARS! How much more time am I supposed to give it?

Oh well, the end is in sight for me, at least and you are talking months too. I am thinking I'll be back to doing a HM by the end of the season and maybe even an Olympic Tri. And, if not, at least next season I should be back to normal.

Definitely puts things in perspective.

I have some favorite races - I will for sure miss running my favorite 5ks, but I MIGHT make my favorite Sprint Tri (swimming is the iffy part), and I am planning to do my favorite half in December.

Rode my bike to church...about 5 miles each way.  Coming back I stopped at the coffee shop for a cup of soup (chicken vegetable) and some ice tea.  It was over 80 degrees today in Northern California...Beautiful spring day.  Later I went to the farm and mowed weeds down using a gas mower.  Big time drought we are having...But very nice day.  Brian
