Upon my coach's advice, I'm not going to fully taper for Marine Corps Marathon in a few weeks, as my ultimate goal is my first ultra in November.... That being said, running 6 days in a row is still a dumb idea! Oh well.

Sunday: marathon group long run, 20mi

First ultra: Stone Mill 50 miler 11/15/14 13:44:38, First Full Marathon: Marine Corps 10/27/13 4:57:11Half Marathon PR 2:04:43 at Shamrock VA Beach Half-Marathon, 12/2/12 First Half-Marathon 2:32:47, 5K PR  Run Under the Lights 5K 27:23 on 11/23/13, 10K PR 52:53 Pike's Peek 10K 4/21/13(1st timed run) Accumen 8K 51:09 10/14/12.

How hard was it to qualify for the Marine Corps Marathon?  My partner is hoping to do it next year, since we have to go to a wedding on the weekend of the Baltimore Marathon.

Saturday - REST, woo!
Sunday - my partner is dragging me out to run sprints since he thinks this will help me improve my "short twitch muscles."  So.. I'll be doing whatever that entails instead of my regular training plan.

Gwen, you don't have to qualify for MCM (b/c if I did, I'd be screwed! lol) but this year it was a lottery so I know a lot of people who didn't get in. However, the way of getting around it is often registering with a charity - like Fischer House or Wounded Warriors - and they guarantee a bib, or if you're training with a major running club (like I'm with Montgomery County Road Runners Club, a RRCA affiliate), they often reserve or make available bibs for participants who want to buy one. MCM was my first one last year and I loved it, but I think that if I couldn't get in to MCM, I'd consider Richmond (in November) or Rehoboth (in December).

Ah, thanks, I knew that qualifying wasn't quite the right word, but I couldn't remember what the right word was.  :D  It's good to know there are ways to ensure you'll make the lottery!  Thanks.
