Help, How do I make my Optifast taste better?

I started my 2 weeks of Optifast 2 days ago. I bought the Vanilla flavour and I can drink about half of each serving before I start to gag on it. I don't know what it is about the taste that just does not sit well with me. I am supposed to take 4 Optifast a day and so far I can only manage 1 and after that the thought of drinking more makes me nauseous. I don't know what to do about this and am looking for some suggestions on what I could add to it to improve the flavour. Lisa

Maybe it needs to be sweetened with Equal? Try the chocolate. And they have strawberry as well. There is a low carb Slim fast out now. And all sorts of soy based drinks. Just remember, when you start the liquid thing you might have a bit of diarrea. I did. I use the vanilla in my tea and it tastes good to me.

I cheated it with half slimfast and half optifast. Then I put it in the blender with crushed Ice. That way it had a reason for the gritty consistency (in my head.) Sometimes I would put berries or banana in it. The reason for the Optifast is to lose weight before surgery. You will still lose weight if you put a little something in the shakes to make them tolerable. Good Luck!

Hi Lisa... The only way I could get the optifast down was to blend it with some ice and a squirt of chocolate syrup ... Kathy

I love the D'vinci syrups that they have in the coffee aisle. They are sugarfree and have great flavors. I bet you could add some hazlenut or amaretto and come up with something pretty tasty.

Lisa, Can you get the chocolate flavor? It's tastes so much better than that vanilla. I think there's also strawberry flavor but I'm not sure how that tastes. When I did the Optifast diet the only flavors were vanilla and chocolate. After the first month I couldn't drink the vanilla. To this day anything vanilla brings back optifast flashbacks .

Thanks so much everyone for the suggestions! I really appreciate them and will be sure to try them all. I was offered the Vanilla or Chocolate and from past experience with some of the protein drinks on the market, I found the vanilla a little easier to stomach. I had to buy a 4 week supply of this stuff so I don't think I can take the Vanilla back now after the box has been opened. I wish they would give you a sample pack with both flavours in it before they make you choose. On a brighter note, I have lost 3 lbs since Friday! Probably from the fact that I am not eating as many calories as I am supposed to because I am not getting in all my OPtifast. I know that I need to keep my body going though and feed it enough calories or it will go into starvation mode and no pounds will come off. So I have just got to try all your suggestions and hopefully at least one of them will make this stuff tolerable for me! It's going to be a long 4 weeks!!! Lisa

Back in the day, I did the Optifast program. The ONLY way I could stand to drink it was to blend a packet of vanilla Optifast with Diet Coke and throw in a couple ice cubes. K
