Steri-strip residue

My surgeon removed my steri-strips the other day (pulling off 3 scabs which allowed them to get infected, but that's another story). I've got that sticky band-aid residue on my stomach, black now from collecting clothing lint. Lovely. For the life of me I can't get it off. Any suggestions?

I do not know why the Drs offices do not wipe the pts steri strip areas with adhesive remover pads before they leave the office. You might be able to get these at your local pharmacy. They are I beieve lanolin based and wite the tackiness right off. Michele

A little rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball will get it off.

Hi Jeanine!  I'm so glad you asked this question!!  I've had the same problem with that sticky glue!!  I finally was able to get most of it off with NAIL POLISH REMOVER!!!!  The regular kind, not the non- acetone stuff.  Also, I had to kind of hold the soaked pad over the glue and pull it off like you would  a piece of string.  Nasty stuff.  When I told you I was all black and blue, I actually wasn't, it was the tape marks!! Plus, I didn't have my glasses on! What's this about an infection????  Sounds nasty! So glad you're doing well!!

The infection's not that bad. 3 of the incisions weren't quite ready to be revealed to the world yet. I've been putting some antibiotic on them and they're healing up.
I'm going to try the nail polish remover, thanks. That way I don't have to go out in all this snow! :o)

You might try baby oil if you have any.  It often gets sticky band-aid residue off and it seems less harsh than nail polish remover.

The adhesive remover they use in Dr.'s offices is based on acetone (regular nail polish remover.) jeannine
