Anyone else finding that they have more body hair since losing weight?

I have found that the more weight I have lost, the more body hair I have gained!!!  Specifically, my arms and legs.  Not that I have this huge amount of hair but, before losing weight, I only had to shave my legs every other week or so; now, I have to shave my legs every other DAY to avoid stubble.  Even my arms have more hair again; luckily, it is pale blonde!  Anyway, I wondered if others had encountered this strange phenomenon, too!! Yes. Like you I have not turned into a gorilla but it is noticeable to me! And I have a slight moustache if I don't take care! But I am not sure in my case whether it is to do with being post-menopausal. But hey - fat and smooth or thin and hairy? I can get rid of hair easily! Kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I'd forgotten about the moustache, Kate!! That was a shocker, too -- seeing it in the unforgiving light of day!   I have developed a new fondness for wax these days!!  I'm with you -- thin and hairy beats fat and smooth!!  It is MUCH easier to get rid of hair than it is to get rid of fat!! I'll see you near the razor/hair removal aisle!!

Yes......my hair is thicker and healthier and, after several years of no hair on my legs, it's back!  I am quite sure it's from the increased protein in my diet (which was pretty much non-existant before wls).

I'll bet that you're right, Gayle.  Three months or so after surgery, I lost a lot of head hair, but that has more than stabilized and my hair looks better than it has in many a long time.  I, too, didn't eat much protein before -- seemed to live on a bunch of carbs! -- and now that is the mainstay of my diet.  Smart woman!

Oh man.....I'm already a hairy gorilla!  Do you mean I will have MORE hair to fight off now??   UGH!     Oh well, as you guys said.......I'd rather fight the hair than the fat!!

It can be from excess hormones also. Fat stores hormones and as you loose weight it releases them into your system. This can cause a hormone imbalance in a lot of women. As your weight evens out it should correct itself.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. -

Not necessarily. I have been maintaining for about 8 months. Long enough for my body to get used to this!  Kate

Well, that's encouraging since I've still got a lot more weight to lose!!  I can just picture myself getting thinner and thinner and hairier and hairier and hairier ...!!!  I'm sure you're right about the excess hormones and fat being an inhibitor -- I hadn't thought of that.  Thanks for the info!!
