I have been spotting this month every day from ovulation going forward and I am really tired of it! I am a year out of surgery and every month my cycle has a "surprise" in store for me. Some months no spotting and other months, I will spot every day!

I do have PCOS but for the past six/seven years prior to surgery my cycles were normal. Glucophage and exercise have helped tremendously!

Now day 1 is a nightmare. I need two or three Aleve to get through the day and the constant spotting is depressing!

Is anyone else experiencing this? I have been told it is the estrogen surge in the fat cells? For me it is the first sign that I am losing weight! Happy for the weight loss. Want the monthly spotting to end! Aarrgghh!

Yep, it's due to the hormones being dumped from fat to your blood.  But... there is more you can enjoy as you lose weight just like the rest of us. ;o)

Couple of things to consider:

1) Constant spotting or bleeding between cycles was one of the symptoms that led my gyn to do an endometrial biopsy which showed I had pre-cancer.   I eventually had a hysterectomy which showed I did indeed have cancer, but it was caught so early that surgery will probably be all I need.

If you're not seeing a gyn about this, I would suggest checking in with one.

And yes, excess estrogen due to obesity was one of the causes of my cancer.

2) my bariatric surgeon doesn't want us taking NSAIDs.. which Aleve is one of.. without also taking a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) such as Prilosec or Prevacid.  This is to protect the band.  He is of the opinion that NSAIDs (Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs.. things like Aspirin, Aleve, Ibuprofen, etc.) can be problematic for banded patients.

Your surgeon may have other opinions, just wanted to mention it in case you hadn't cleared the use of Aleve with him/her.

Hope you feel better soon.

Your spotting may be completely unrelated to your WLS.  If you are not losing a lot of fat, hormones aren't being "dumped" into your system in large enough amounts to cause big problems.  Too often, people on the boards chalk all their problems up to their WLS, when it has nothing to do with it.
See your GYN specialist ASAP...I had these issues from the time I was 37 to 51 when I finally had a hysterectomy.  I had a huge fibroid tumor that was causing me to bleed constantly for the last two years....I was starting a new career and could not take time off for surgery, so kept putting it off.
You could have any number of problems causing your spotting, from fibroids to cancer to peri-menopause.  Get help today.
Let us know how it goes.
Edited:
Aleve is not recommended for us....and it doesn't address the root cause of your problem....burning a hole in your stomach isn't going to help your situation.

Thanks for scaring the hell out of me! I am actually scheduled to see my GYN in March and we are tracking my cycles for a year and doing a bone density test. The spotting isn't every cycle, but every 3rd or 4th cycle and happens when I drop a few pounds. this month the spotting started at ovulation. Another difference this cycle (started Friday) was no pain. So no Aleve. I do plan to speak to my gynecologist at my next appointment and get lots of test. I hope it is cancer or a large fibroid.

Thanks for scaring me to death!
