Lisa O

I hope I'm not out of line with posting this but I know many of you here know and love Lisa O. She is always kind and has excellent information for all. Anyway she is in grave condition after revising to RNY a couple of weeks ago. She is being kept sedated so the can be intubated and has had her colon and part of her intestines removed due to developing sepsis after her surgery.

I'll try to get this in order and complete but may not have it all in order. The original surgery seemed to go well then she developed a blood clot behind her stomach and on her liver. It took a couple of tries but they finally got that removed and she went home I believe but she was still in awful pain so went back to the hospital. She was put in ICU and they did exploratory surgery to see if there was another clot or bleed somewhere but found nothing. Then she developed sepsis (a bacterial infection of the blood) she was put in a sedated state so her body could rest and function as little as possible. The sepsis was spreading to her organs and they decided to remove her colon and part of her intestines to try to relieve the spread of the sepsis I think. She is now still under anesthesia and resting but she can use all the prayers and positive thoughts you have.

I was privileged to meet her a few years back and she is just as sweet and nice in person as she is here. She is a strong Christian, as is her family, so she is surrounded by love and prayers but can always use more. It would be a shame to lose such an awesome person so young. I will update here as I learn anymore and Jean also has information that I don't always get so I invite her to also share as she learns more,

I ask you all to please not use this as an excuse to start a surgery war or slam the band since Lisa has always been a proponent of the band and would not blame the revision for what happened. Sepsis can happen with any surgery and she has great faith in her surgical team so it would be an insult to her to use this as a reason to promote any of our personal agendas. I'm not aiming this at anyone in particular I just don't want any negativity attatched to this situation. Thank you for your kindness and prayers.

I put a prayer request in to our prayer group at church and I will keep her in my prayers sending healing light her way and tons of positive energy and good thoughts ... to her and her loved ones.  Thanks for sharing with us my beautiful sista, our corporate fervent prayers as well as our well wishes and positive energy and good thoughts regardless of belief certainly help ... I am sorry I never met or read her posts and do not know her story but I will pray for our sister on the journey believing and thanking in advance for her healing. ...

She is a kind and generous lady with a lovely and lively sense of humour. In her years of posting on here, she has never been rude, abrupt or unkind. She always supports others.

I think we sometimes forget how we are messing with our bodies with these surgeries ...   I'll keep everything crossed and swing some chickens for her and hopefully her continued recovery xx

Thank you so much everyone, her family is definately feeling the love in the Love Lisa Network! I have a quick update, so far today her vitals have been good, in fact good enough that they went back in (they left her open yesterday for quick and easy access) to attach a tube to get her more nutrition, the RNY malabsorption isn't good for her right now, not sure iof they closed her back u*****t. I assume they may leave her open for awhile to be able to get quick access if needed. The family  is taking shifts staying with her and so appreciate everyone's positive thoughts. Thank you again!

Thanks for sharing this with us. I've communicated with Lisa. Little and always found her positive and upbeat. Will say some prayers for her and hope her recovery goes well.
