Hello,

I was at Shopper's Drug Mart today looking around to see what kind of brands they have that I could possibly get here in Canada instead of the US.  I prefer taking Centrum Chewables rather than trying to swallow a large pill, but haven't been able to find the chewables anywhere in Canada.  Shopper's Drug Mart has the Spectrum Chewables brand on sale right now for $8.99.  the pharmacist kindly photocopied the label so that I could compare it to my Centrum Chewables that I bought from the staes.

Here are the differences (only listing differences, everything else is exactly the same);

Centrum Chewables                                                                  Spectrum Chewables

Vitamin A 3,500 IU(29% Beta Carotene)                                 Vitamin A 2,485 IU
                                                                                                         Beta Carotene 1,015 IU
Calcium 108 mg                                                                           Calcium 158 mg
Phosphorus 50 mg                                                                      Phosphorus 125 mg
Magnesium 40 mg                                                                       Magnesium 50 mg
                                                                                                         Lycopene (coloring) 300 mcg

Does anybody know if these differences in doses would affect me in a negative way, or should it be okay?

Thanks,

I have been using the Spectrum Chewable 50+ since after sugery, the reason I chose those is the selenium since it has more! no problems so far, blood work seems fine. My suegeon recommended I take two per day.
As far as I know, they shouldn't affect you in any negatice way because of the malabsorbition issue anyway.
Good luck
Maggie

Hi
I am also not 50 but I still take them! Slenium is an essential nutrient that your body requires to convert food into protein. google it and

I also take the Spectrum Chewables 50+ my nutritionist said that the difference was not enough to worry about.  I also take 2 a day, one in the morning and one in the evening...better to take seperate for the absorption factor.

Hope this helps

My NUT told us to take multis over 50 as well.  I just take regular centrum over 50 as I can swallow horse pills with no issue at all.

My NUT actually advised that we take Materna vit. YIKES!!  I can get them down ok - I actually use the generic brand from Costco.  For a bottle of 100 pills they are about 6 bucks and the label list is identical to the Materna Brand vit (about 13-15 for same amount)

Dee, Dr. G. wanted me to take two chewables, Evelyn did say the Centrum from the states because they have more iron content...but the Spectrum also have the 18mg of iron!!! so thats what I've been using.  I was in Kingston last Sat. and I picked up 2.  Here in Brockville, its very diffcult to get them!!  Patti K.

They have all kinds at the King St Shoppers.  Do you buy the regular spectrum chewables or the 50+?
