Self-Pay - no wait times. Depends on how busy the surgeon is. If you're trying to get OHIP approval - could take years. A friend of mine tried for 3 years before OHIP approved the surgery. She had major back problems because of the weight of her breasts.

There isn't a wait time defined by OHIP.  I got approval for a BR in the same time it took for my panni approval - about 6-8 weeks (which Xmas holidays in there which probably made it a bit longer).  I am not in a super big hurry to get it done - so I wasn't pushing for appointments - but my whole wait will be about 9 months.  Could most likely have had it about 3 months sooner.

Now - a friend of mine went to a dr. here in Waterloo.  The only thing he still does for OHIP is breast reduction surgery.  He's known as the "boob guy" - and apparently does a fantastic job.  I went to see him, but I didn't get the feeling that he really knew that much about WLS patients, so I went with someone else.  That was my most important criteria.  Anyway - he only does 1 BR a MONTH.  My friend waited 3 years from approval to surgery.

The OHIP approval is only good for 12 months (I think), so if your surgeon is that backed up, you'd need to keep on top of them to make sure it gets extended....

I had a BR and arms done last May. I waited about 8-10 weeks for OHIP and then surgery was booked pretty quickly here in London. OHIP denied the request twice before my surgeon fought back for me and got it approved.
One problem I had though with the reduction was that I didn't actually have much breast tissue left only lots of skin. So I ended up barely a B cup. I will probably do an Augmentation with implants later this fall because of this.

My family Dr has refered me for a BR.  I failed to ask which PS he would refer me to as I was distracted by him saying this usually takes a while. I am assuming I will be sent over to London.  (Dr is in Woodstock so could be Stratford or Kitchener too..... I will call and ask this week.)

Few questions: Any updates on waits since this post?  How long did it take to get an appt with a PS?  I assume its the PS who sends the request to OHIP? (Lets hope OHIP approval is in my future.)   Is the consensus still 8-10 weeks for OHIP approval?  What were the wait times til surgery?  Start to finish from others experiences am I looking at 6-12 months at least?

Thank you for taking time to respond.
