OT - (sorta) Tattoos

Did I (or someone else) already ask this question?? If fo, I apologize because I forget hat the answer was...

I know Dollface might know....but has anyone who had tattoos BEFORE surgery experienced any crazy changes in their tattoo afterwards? Does it shrink back with your skin? Does it still look the same? Any problems?

I have seen women who had tattoos on their stomach and when they got pregnant it stretched but then after baby is born the skin shrinks back and their tattoo is a little misshapen or slightly out of proportion. Will this be the case after surgery as well?

What about if they are on the least fatty parts of the body (arms, legs and back); does that make a difference?

I have a friend who lost 140lbs or so with WLS and had a tattoo done with big.  It just looks like a smudge now.  It was on her belly.

I had one on my breast - lost 150lbs and had a breast reduction - it is now closer to my nipple due to the BR...but exactly the same shape.

I'd think it depends if you have stretch marks where it appears.

i have 4 fairly good size tattoos on both my legs and they look the same now as they did when I was big.  It all depends on where you have them if they are going to change.

I have one on my left foot. . . .and as you can guess, it didn't change.  Unfortunately, it wasn't done very well and I would like to get someone to redo it for me.  The tattoo artist would have to be pretty creative to improve upon it but I think it can be done.

I have a lot of tattoos that have survived a weight loss of 125lbs, then a weight gain of 130lbs  - now heading back down, and they seem to be fine.  I have them on my back, forearms, legs and neck.

thanks for posting this, I asked awhile ago and i'm always looking for answers about this topic. I have one that goes across my lower back i'm worried about. I got it when I was smaller so I'm hoping it just goes back to normal....wishful thinking i'm sure.

 I have more than a few tattos all over, arms, legs, back, wrists and none of them have mis-shapen since losing the first 115 pounds so I dont expect them to change anymore for the last 25 to go.
