I will be 3 years out in October and still need to lose about 30lbs. How many calories should I be eating to achieve this goal? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hi Brandi,
I know that this is not completely accurate because we have things like metabolism to take into account, but here is a calculator that will give you a rough idea of the amount of calories you should be eating to achive your goal: http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/calculators/calories-r equired/ Maybe you could try using a food and exercise tracker like MyFitnessPal: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/.
Good luck!

Hmmm... I tried that calculator for fun - if I want to lose 10 pounds in a month, I'd have to eat only 374 calories per day?? LOL!

This is what is written above the calculator: NB: Any (-ve) negative values are shown in red, ie trying to lose 50 pounds in 1 week is not possible. Values in yellow indicates a very low calorie intake. As a rule of thumb you should not eat below 1200 calories for female and 1600 calories for male.

i noticed that the default is metric. did you change your values to standard measurements? whatever you call lbs and feet?

I use the website livestrong.com, the myplate application, to track what i'm eating. I input my current weight, my desired weight, and my desired rate of weight loss (2 lbs a week), and my level of activity. That program tells me what my calorie level should be.

That's pretty much what myfitnesspal does as well. Either one of those sites are good.
