Anyone heading to Mexico in January?
Well, I didn't qualify for the sleeve under OHIP's specifications, so I started researching self pay surgeons. Dr. Aceves was the surgeon who stood out the most for me.
Since I wasn't able to stay within Canada because of the cost, I had to look for the surgeon who not only has a reasonable cost that I could afford but also many years of experience, as well as a low complication rate. Especially since I wasn't going to have access to my surgeon for after care emergencies. Due to this concern, it was important to me have my surgery in a real hospital, not a clinic, and to spend as much of my recovery time as possible within the hospital instead of a recovery house, or hotel. This was more reassuring to me, that I was going to get the proper care that I needed. Also need to mention how clean, up to date with all the state of the art equipment, and how caring the staff is to you. Many report the care is far superior to what we have in Canada or even American hospitals.
Also the amazing number of satisfied, happy patients that he treated is very profound to his abilities. The only complaints were for trivial things, like it was too noisy in the recovery room for those trying to rest, by other patients. You will not only find over 200 reviews for him on OH but also many youtube video's of people who documented their entire journey from beginning to end, to share with everyone their experience. I loved this, because it helped to take away any uncertainties, and gives you an in depth, birds eye view of what to expect, with no surprises. Believe me, if your considering going to another country, you want to be as informed as possible. No other surgeon that I have seen, has impressed me the way his facility has.
In the end, I am going with my gut instincts, and I feel confident in my choice.
