I know everybody's surgery/experience is different but I'm hoping to get a better idea of how long I need my husband to stay home with me.  I figure only a couple days after being released but he seems to think more like a week.  I love the man dearly but I don't know that I want him home that long.  LOL

How long did each of you need assistance at home?

I feel the same way about my other half~perhaps he wants the time off work ;)  I agree with you a couple of days is probably enough.  After a couple of days home I was ok to get my own water etc, you are not eatting that much, mostly working on getting the protein drinks and water in.  I slept alot, and watched daytime TV in between naps and walking.

I had a fair bit of pain post op from adhesions from previous surgeries, even with that after the first couple of days home I was happy to be alone.

I was glad to have my hubby home for two days (the weekend), but didn't really need him much.  I think it would be way different if you had to be up taking care of little children and cooking for them.  However, I just needed to take care of me - so no problem.

Jason with the prize!!!!

I would say less is best. A few days just to help out when you don't feel your best then,

Unless something unusual happens, by the time you are discharged from hospital you will not need a round the clock caregiver. It probably wouldn't hurt to have someone home with you on the first day or two though.

I would plan from a total of 5 day starting with your surgery date. That will give you both flexabilty and avoid stress.

Good luck!

I don't imagine you'll need him at all.  My hubby was off, but I didn't need him.  Let him go to work and keep the remote control to yourself, lol!

I had my hubby take a week off.  I loved having him home with me. We have a daughter who is 7 and his mother living with us. SO it made it really easy for me to just veg.  I personally didn't use him much. Just for a walking buddy.
