Hi.  Just wondering if you could help answer a question.. I was wondering if about the PSYC evaluation.  Is it different from the Social Worker appointment?  Also, does everyone have to have a psyc appointment at Humber?  I see some of you with appointment dates for both and some with only the SW appt date.
Thanks

I never had a psych appt at Humber. I kinda wish I did so I could maybe get some tools to help tackle head hunger & old habits.

not every has to do that. Don't sweat it, if you have one, or if you don't.

I know I am through a different centre (Sudbury) but I think they are lionked..?? Anyways.. I had both psych AND social worker this week and they were almost the same thing.. was kinda annoying tio be honest because both were quite lengthy. and it doesn't help that I am a chaterbox in any senario, especially while nervous lol.

I would have prefered just the psych.... and appreciate having that and look forward to follow ups post surgery to deal with issues that I know will arise..

Like Simona, I too wish I had seen a pshyc instead of the social work (who was horrid by the way, a complete bully (but I slayed her),

Good luck either way.

thanks for the help everyone..!   I was trying to figure out the time frame too... like if they want to have one or not and how long it would take to have it etc etc.. lol.   If it happens it happens.  Like most of you said, it would only be beneficial anyways.

I was at TWH and when I saw the SW she said she had no concerns and saw no need to transfer my file to the Psychologist....perhaps Humber has the same protocol.  Just a guess though.

Good Luck!

The doctor and Social worker said that they did not feel that I needed to see the psych. They felt that mentally I was prepared and solid.  Not everyone needs the psych, depends on identified points of concern.

It varies from site to site. At TWH you have both SW and psych/psychologist.
The SW tends to look at your social supports and the other looks more at your mental health and history,

I am going through TWH. I met with the social worker as my first appointment after my orientation session. Then met with the Psych staff who appointment  was allot more involved.
