First off I need to say SORRY to OKNEE for not calling this week. Things have been crazy this week but I still want to talk to you.....

Today I go in for my third attempt for a Iron Infusion. Unfortunately for me I have been having reactions to the treatment and they are trying a new ****tail today. Needless to say I am really nervous because I want it to work so bad.

I have to be at the hospital today at 10:30 and could be there until after 3:00 pm. It is a long day and I tend to sleep on and off because the medication knocks me out.

Please send me positive vibes for me today as I can't even tell you how tired and foggy I feel with my iron being so low. I am also the worldest biggest wimp and HATE needles so that does not help my anxiety....

Thanks for all the positive vibes that I know you will be sending,

Kerry

Thanks Jason that gave me a little chuckle... My friend/co-worker keeps sending me Iron Maiden pictures and music to me this morning. He thought it would be funny if I wore his Iron Maiden tshirt this morning for the occassion. lol

What hospital are you going to? What did you react to? I had three infusions of Venofer. I got tired and felt like a truck ran me over after, but no other reaction than that!!

I live in the Niagara Region and go to one of the hospital's there. I feel tired during it and sleep and certainly sleep after. The first time I had the treatment it affected my blood pressure. They gave me benedryl during my infusion but I still experienced itchness that night and I had a bad headache throughout the entire procedure. The second time I had it my blood pressure was affected as well. Both times my blood pressure goes very low. This time they gave me extra fluid to diluate the iron, extra benedryl and keep a close eye on my blood pressure. Unfortunately I got up to go to the washroom and my blood pressure dropped more, I felt like I was going to be sick and pass out. It took forever for it to pass and then ended up stopping my treatment after speaking to the surgeon and gave me gravol and sent me home.

Today the specialist is going to use benedryl, a steriod, order me tylenol, extra fluid and try again. Fingers cross it works....

Getting ready to head to the hospital and feeling anxious.... I will not be able to respond to any posts until I get back. Sometimes the WiFi is funny at the hospital. Hope everyone is having a good day...

your thread caught my attention because as I posted elsewhere on this board I have been post-op for 3 years and always had iron deficiencies, no matter how much iron I have taken and the fact that I am now on the 4th type of iron).  My only saving grace is that I don;t have low energy levels, except in the evening..maybe I am running on empty..LOL

my doctor just referred me to a doctor to see if an iron infusion would be beneficial, so I will try to watch your progress and see how it goes.

all the best for positive results~!!

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!.  Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!
