A whole bunch of NSV's (plus an SV - kinda)
I had an appointment with the doctor at my sleep clinic yesterday. I hadn't been there since well before surgery to do the initial assessment. Here's what happened:
* His receptionist weighed me on a balance beam scale. She immediately set it to where I was pre-op. Then moved the big weight back one slot. It was still too much so she moved it back another slot. Still too much so she pushed the little weight almost back to the very beginning. She was in SHOCK. I knew I'd lost 95 pounds but it was priceless to see her expression when she had to keep adjusting the scale. It was so nice to see them reducing the weights instead of adding them.
* I was expecting to spend the night at the clinic to repeat the sleep study but as my apnea was considered mild pre-op and my symptoms have disappeared with my weight loss, the doctor sent me on my way. No need for any further sleep studies as he is confident whatever issues I had were resolved with my RNY/weight loss. Kinda sucked that I drove a total of 7 hours to NOT need the study but it gave me a chance to do a little shopping.
* For the first time I managed to walk into a store for regular-sized people. I was anxious and kept thinking one of the sales people would ask me to leave since they "had nothing in my size." Not so. I know I can fit into their clothes because I have a second hand pair of their pants in my closet that are just about to become too big for me. I still didn't gather up enough courage to try anything on but it was nice to be in a regular store and realize at least some of the clothes they carry would fit.
* As I was in the city, I decided to "treat" myself to a pre-op favourite: Coldstone Creamery Cake Batter ice cream. I got the kiddie cup and ate about a 1/3 of it then threw the rest away. Me... throw away ice cream?? Would never have happened pre-op. Turns out my first ice cream since surgery didn't give me the satisfaction I was looking for and I was able to toss it without feeling bad about it. This was monumental for me.
I love seeing the number on the scale moving down but those NSV's are the ones that make me emotional.
