I have a mirena IUD and we love it!! Cost around 400 but we have benefits through work so it was covered. They are good for 5 years. 5 minutes to put it in and never have to think about it again.
The estrogen is very lose dose I had it put in while breastfeeding and it didnt affect my milk supply.

FYI its progestin not estrogen in Mirena. But you are correct it is low dose. Very good option for most WLS patients.

after  talking about different forms of birth control with my GP, Surgeon and Nurse at the HRRH clinic, I made the choice to switch from the pill (which you can't use after RNY) to the NuvaRing, you leave it in for 3weeks and take it out for one, so it pretty simple to use and for 3 months it only cost 64.00. I have found no side effects, no weight gain and lighter periods.

I get it again in a few weeks. I think it was around $40 for 3 months but it could have been $60, Sorry not much help.

Mirena for me, too. It's awesome!!! Very effective and no need to think about it once it's in place.
