Has anyone done the CIBC Run/Walk for a cure?

Hi... I was just wondering if anyone has done the CIBC run/walk for a cure before?

I'm interested in doing it, and since I am really enjoying running these days, I am sort of wanting a goal to work towards, like doing the 5K run for a great cause... but I am nowhere near ready to run a full 5K yet...

I am diligently working on building up my stamina/endurance, but I don't think I can really expect to run a full 5K a little over 30 days from now...I'm trying to be realistic. Or am I just psyching myself out?

Have you done it? It's not about the donations or the cause, because I always donate each year and I never regret it (obviously)... But I don't know anyone else who is doing it locally (Sudbury - Sept 30th) which is no big deal in itself, but I don't want to embarass myself by registering for a 5K run and end up walking the whole thing... or does it really matter?

I suppose if you finish the 5K and your donations are going to a good cause, where's the harm...

Am I being totally ridiculous by having doubts? I am new to running, so I don't want to bite off more than I can chew... oh wow, what a bad pun. Lol

Ok, well all opinions welcome... If you think I need a kick in the ass, then give it to me... I'm not sure why I am so wishy-washy today, usually I am much more decisive....

Hi Toni,

First, congratulations on all of your accomplishments. You have done incredible!

I did the CIBC run for the cure with my high school gym class about 5 years ago. I was still very overweight (about 225 pounds or so) and I finished in 42 minutes. I was one of the last ones in the pack and I still felt incredible. I FINISHED!
Nobody will judge you based on how long you take. It's all about raising money for the cause

I walked the 5km last year. I'm not much of a runner (unless I'm being chased).
