After the honeymoon, does the hunger return?
Just wondering from you more experienced RNYers if the hunger from the pouch ever returns? Im over 3 months post and loving my WLS but I am also concerned that the hunger will return one day in full force or something? Concerned that my current condition will have to change (which I dont want it to).
Thanks :)
Yes it does. And it's different for everyone. Mine came back around 6 months, and I was not happy. But you learn to adjust. It also took me awhile to figure out that I was really hungry 10 days before that time of the month came around. I kept panicking because I would be so hungry that day and I kept thinking, "This is it, i'm done". But it would subside and everything turns to normal again. There are some days that I'm more hungry than others.
However, I do know that there are a handful of people who still don't really get that hungry. I'm not one of them.

yes ma'am. It sure can!!!!
I have noticed the same as Kelly, 7-10 days before TOM, the hunger is insane!!! And I am not too sure I really am hungry. But i go searching.... I also have stopped weighing myself during this time. The scales are enemies and I refuse to be dragged down by their numbers!!
Just keep in mind if you do join us in the hunger games, keep an eye on the quality of the food you go to.
Best of luck!

at almost 4 years post-op (I cannot lie)..YES, YES, YES and eventually you will be able to stick more into your pouch...
what comes into play 2, 3 4 years + down the line is keeping yourself in check..
if you have a piece of velvet cake this week, don;t make it habit of having a piece every day...try to keep to some of the habits you have formed, no fried foods, no KFC...no pop.. I still steer clear of donuts and fast food places for the most part when I go into a McDonalds, I choose the side salad with the grilled chicken breast on the side.
I had potato chips this weekend and about 12 chocolate covered almonds...but the potato chips I STILL portion into a bowl and put away the bag.
so it's NOT just about being hungry...that also increases...but keeping it in check and trying as much as possible to stick to the good eating/exercise habits are absolutly NECESSARY~!
prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.
life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!. Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!

This was a good question because I find it amazing that I'm never hungry. I'm only 2 weeks out so of course this makes sense, but I wondered how long it would last. I know when I read about this pre-op it was so hard to comprehend...not hungry? no cravings? forget to eat? crazy concept but its true! At least for now.
Thanks,
Elena
Yes and that's when the real challenge begins.
It'll all be back to willpower and hard work.

I am amazed how much I can eat if I don't stay vigilant. I certainly cannot eat nearly the volume I did pre-op, but if I nibble a bit here and a bit there, by the end of the day it is frightening what I can fit in. I can also eat to the point of feeling almost sick which I know is a dangerous habit. I am working hard to get back on track and also working with a therapist to make some sort of peace with the food demon inside me...my therapist is trying to help me realize that she (the food demon) is part of me and a part that is trying to help me (even if in a maladaptive way). I kind of get this intellectually but haven't quite got there emotionally yet.
Sorry for babbling. I guess what I wanted to say was use this "honeymoon" time wisely. Try work on any issues you may have (emotional/food related) now, so that you have a game plan in place when/if the hunger/cravings resurface.
Enjoy the ride :)
Andrea.
