RNY in Ontario

I just have a quick question.

Is the RNY performed laproscopically or open? Does it vary between surgeons\centres?

It is preformed Laparoscopic, unless they have to open you for some reason, but most of the time they don't.  They will plan on Laparoscopic as it is easier for the surgeon and for you (healing time, pain etc..)

I had 4 major abdominal surgeries and I taught for sure that they had to go under "open" - my belly is "full full of zippers" - and no they did it laparoscopic! Was amazed.  So the chances are very high - and the recovery so much quicker. Best of luck!

Laparoscopic is the general practice for all surgeries, unless they run into an issue.
