FREE FitBit!!
Now that I've got your attention....
Have you been on the fence about joining the CRAZY Trans-Canada Challenge? If you have, there's no time like RIGHT NOW! If you sign up for the challenge between now and December 1st AND remain in the challenge for at least the months of December and January, your name will be entered to win a FitBit. I just started using mine this week and I am hooked!!
Don't worry current challenge members. You are eligible, as well!
Please click on the link in my signature to see a copy of the "rules". You may sign up in this post or send me a PM if you're shy.
Just a few small notes for those who are wondering:
** As long as you get a minimum of ONE km/week you are eligible to enter the challenge. (Seriously, I'm sure every single one of you moves at least a km in one week!)
** There is NO cost to participate in the challenge!
** The challenge is open to pre-ops, post-ops and those who are just figuring things out.
** If you've been in the challenge and since dropped out, come back. You are ALWAYS welcome!
** I will offer an option of a second, equally fantastic, prize for those of you who already have a FitBit or who have no interest in using one.
Here's a link to FitBit if you want to have a gander. The prize will be the FitBit Ultra (the one I currently own.) This thing is amazing. It even tracks my sleep patterns!
The other choice will be an Ozeri Touch 440 lbs Digital Bathroom Scale. It measures Weight, Body Fat, Hydration, Muscle and Bone Mass with Auto Recognition Technology for 8 Personal Profiles. Here's a picture of it.

So, what are you waiting for?? Sign up now!!!

Thank you. That was taken on my hike last Thursday... on the Trans-Canada Trail, no less!
I'll give it a try, just need to read up on what exactly I need to do?? sounds great, and I've been hearing about this Fitbit, wondering what it's all about... I am still pre-op but trying to change now.
Thanks, Dorothy

Yay, Dorothy!!
I collect everyone's mileage on Sunday-Monday. This week begins today and goes until next Sunday. Feel free to join in right away. I just need to know how many kms you expect to do in a week (you can aim as small or as large as you wish) and which type of activity you plan on doing.
Thea
Okay, I hopefully will get 5km of walking in this week...silly question, I coach my daughter's soccer team on Saturdays, I pace back and forth from one end of the field to the half way mark, can that count, if so, how do I know how many kms that would work out to be?? LOL I will also start walking at my lunch hour here at work. As I get more into it, I think I'll be able to up the kms...this sounds like so much fun! Does running up and down stairs to do laundry, etc., count or do you actually have to go outside and walk/run/bike?

I will put you down for 5 Km.
If you want pacing to count, may I suggest you wear a pedometer. It would be difficult to measure it otherwise as you'd have to know the length of the field and the exact number of times you walked back and forth. Pedometer seems the only way to go. Again, stairs can count as long as you have a way of keeping track of how many flights you're doing. It is not necessary to be outside for distance to count. Any movement that propels you forward is ok so even treadmills, rowing machines and exercise bikes count as long as you can measure the distance you've gone.
Welcome to the challenge. You will be on team B: Your Pace or Mine.
