Dec.8th marked my 4 year anniversary, that's right FOUR years since I was initially referred for RNY. Nov. 20th I finally had my post op nutrition class and still waiting for my surgeons appt. so frustrated and depressed. Christmas is a horrible time for me to begin with, but with this weighing on my mind (no pun intended) I'm about to crack.

Guelph Hospital, and yes, I called Monday and they still have no info for me....just have to hurry up and wait....
Worst part is, is I was talking to the cousin of my best friend, who was referred in Sept, 3 months ago and is having surgery next wed. She has no underlying issues, nor did I. So why do some go so fast and others don't?

I'm assuming someone misplaced your file. That's pathetic and I'd be screaming about that wait time.

I was referred in Nov 2009 and had my surgery June 2010, so obviously you were in the system when I went thru,

Definately not the norm.

BIG HUG, your time is coming.

4 Years seems like a really long time with no underlying issues.

Have they said to you what is taking so long at all ?

Four years is outrageous! I can't think of any reasonable excuse that you have had to wait so long. I mean if you went to appointments promptly, accepted treatment as prescribed and have nothing out of the ordinary comorbidity wise. Don't let it get to you, keep working away at it and be your own advocate for the procedure. Sometimes you need to set a fire under a few people to get some action. Best of luck with it.

Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.

I never missed an appointment or rescheduled. I jumped through every hoop they required, although my family doctor delayed a few weeks not sending a letter they required, but again that was weeks, no years. Either way I can't blame anyone, I really have no answers, I just know I've been ready for this for a very long time. What's another couple months you say? To me, right now, it feels like an eternity. An eternity I'm waiting for...

My suggestion is to call them every week. The squeeky wheel and all! Keep asking for your appointments, and to be put on a cancelation list. Keep calling! 4 years is ridiculous, someone dropped the ball!
