CRAZY Trans-Canada Challenge:January's Challenge

OK, it's kind of late to be posting a challenge as the month is one third over already but I need to shake things up a bit for myself. Your challenge this month is to try something new or to do something that you haven't done in a while. As an example, I went downhill skiing for the very first time last month and will hopefully get in some cross-country skiing and snowshoeing this month. Haven't ever been snowshoeing and it's been about two years since I strapped on my x-country skis.

So, any activity counts - even if it wouldn't count towards your monthly totals. Here's a list of what I can come up with. Feel free to add your own. Just post what you chose to do whenever you do your weekly updates. You don't have to be good at it and you don't have to keep doing it if you don't enjoy it. Just get out of your comfort zone a little:

Ideas:

yoga

running

take a class (aerobics, martial arts, boxing, boot camp)

hiking

swimming

skiing

skating

snowshoeing

spinning

tai chi

dancing (even if it's only around your living room!)

walk your dog

Zumba

do a fitness video (Sweating to the Oldies, maybe?)

weight training

You get the drift. Post some more ideas, everyone - and get moving!

Not sure if we are to post here or not. I tried a boot camp class that kicked my butt, and i LOVED it. If it wasn't so hard to get to, I would do it all the time. I highly recommend them to everyone who wants an extra kick to their workouts.

I also added hill runs to my wednesday runs. I have been avoiding them, because they tire me out. And yes, they do, but I like the challenge...and the burn in my thighs after!

Oh, and at the gym last weekend I tried the stepper thingy that looks like a never-ending escalator. I remember trying it when I was obese, and couldn't do a minute. I did 10 minutes on a fast level, and it was hard!!

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!
