I'm happy to pay for peace of mind and avoiding travel to potentially dangerous places.  A pain free crown here is less than airfare, hotels, the hassle, and the $75.00 surely.

Standards are certainly higher in the States, if you have the money, but I'm sure they're also high in most other democratic, first world countries.

And no, I've only been to the UK, and the US many times, including US hospitals.  I've never gone to second and third world countries, especially those without benefit of democracy and just jurisprudence.  For me, it isn't worth saving a few bucks for a cheaper vacation.  It's like the difference between buying a used car at a dealership and at a used car lot.  My parents have been to Mexico with Spanish speaking formerly Mexican relatives, and were horrified at the poverty and police with assault rifles everywhere.  Laugh at me if you will, that's my opinion.

We will just have to agree to disagree on this.  :)

Jenn.

PS  You have to understand that I am a major worrywort, and if other people want to go to other countries for medical and dental procedures that's fine, I did not mean to insult anyone.  I just wouldn't, that's all.

Please don't leave the U.S or Canada. Your own prejudices will reflect on those of us Canadians who know better than to judge so harshly on something we know little about.

The only thing I find "potentially dangerous" is your lack of knowledge about other countries besides Canada and the U.S.

Please don't speak of other countries as if you have knowledge of them. You have prejudiced gossip and your own paranoid fears commenting wildly as if it were correct.

There is poverty and violence all over the world, including the US.. or did the children being slaughtered escape your attention.. not once but twice within the same month?

Seriously,  I find comments like this to be offensive so do the world well and stay home in your glass home

I find your direct insults offensive.  I imagine this will please you greatly.  However, I do not comment on this forum to insult anyone.

I had thought that you would be civil enough to agree to disagree.

End of 'discussion'.

"I'm just curious. I wouldn't want to go anywhere other than here or the US, where I know standards are high"

I find these kinds of comments in this day and age to be both arrogant and ignorant...in the literal sense. That someone would actually type this, never mind think it at all is disturbing.

Please.. explore the rest of the world but from within the confines of a book.. Somewhere that you won't be insulting OTHER people of OTHER cultures.

How do YOU know I'm not from somewhere other than the U.S. or Canada? Did that ever occur to you?

1.  You're still insulting - bravo!

2.  I am NOT INSULTING other PEOPLE or other CULTURES, therefore, no matter where you are born, I would NOT be insulting you, or anyone else.

3.  What the Hell does culture have to do with medical care?  Why are you dragging the concept of 'culture' into this discussion?  I did not!

4.  You have a hell of a chip on your shoulder about something.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say if you have complications when you get back you will have huge bill. All health care is covered in Ontario regardless of where you had the original surgery.
