There may be a rebound effect like with Advil for headaches.... If you take to much for too long it ends up giving you are bound headache.
Maybe try decreasing the amount for, and the switch to the natural ginger formula ... Slowly weaning yourself... Have they checked to see if there is a reason for your constant nausea??
I waited almost a year to finally get my gallbladder removed and lived on gravol/robaxicet/NSAIDs
I take a 1/2 gravol every week or two, but I am only 6 weeks post RNY

Hi,
Please contact your health team member. Gravol is very useful in short duration BUT can be addictive like anything else, it is highly abused, not monitored and it is readily available.
Is it acid reflux, gallbladder issues, larger bites or snacks? Track your food and feeling and see if there is a trend. Gravol and Benadryl are antihistamines but also affect mood, sleep/wake cycle, mouth & throat moisture and balance etc.
Call your MD in the AM...ok?
Take care and hope your feeling better soon :)

Hi Sue,
I'm still pre-op, but I found that Gravol never helped me feel less nauseous, it just made me tired. I tried plain ginger capsules and was amazed. Ginger actually works. You can use sushi ginger, or fresh ginger root (which would be too fibrous and stringy). The only problem with ginger is that you have to eat if you take it or you will most likely get heartburn. The plain ginger capsules can be bought in the vitamin/herb aisles of most drug stores, and cost about $7.00 for 100 capsules. I imagine the Gravol ginger capsules would be more expensive.
I didn't know Gravol can be addictive, or that people snort it! I'm not an expert, but I would break the Gravol pills into quarters, and take one less quarter of the pill as you can, and try to take some ginger capsules as well. Slowly, but surely you should be able to wean yourself off them.
Jenn. :)
oddly enough the province of Quebec does control the sale of it.
They keep it behind the counter and ask for ID with your name/address as well as why you are purchasing it.
My poor brother has a currently undiagnosed neurological condition that gives his pain/numbness/fatigue nausea... add on the nausea the pain meds create... he always asks me if I can pick some up for him in Ont since it's such an ordeal if it happens to be someone new behind the counter at the pharmacy...
back when i had GB issues you could get a bottle of 50 off the shelf at costco on one side of the bridge... and practically had to give a blood sample on the other to get a pack of 10
