What am I doing wrong???

So I will be 4 weeks post op tomorrow! And according to my calculations, I am only down 13.6 lbs in the 4 weeks. I hit the dreaded 3 week stall last week! It was also timing with TOM. Not sure if that had anything to do with it or not? I just averaged all my daily totals on MFP and here they are. My protein is average of 74.7, calories is average of 660.29 and my water average is around 5 cups. These are daily stats! Is there anything that I can be doing any different!? I took my measurements and I am down only an inch of breasts, but 3 1/2 " off rib cage. Only and inch off waist and hips. I also take half hour walks at least 3-4 days per week or some weeks daily. PLEASE HELP!!!

Lisa

So that is an average of 3.4lbs a week.  What were you expecting?  Everyone loses differently depending on where they start but my average was always around 3 lbs a week during the first 3 months and slightly less afterwards.

I don't think you need to do anything differently based on what you have posted.  You are following the plan and you are losing weight.  Relax and trust the process.  There is no crisis here.  hugs.

Hi Lisa.

Hey, listen don't get discouraged...this is currently my new motto *for a while anyway*

I am 2 months post op and if I'm going by my weight the day of surgery I have only lost 36 pounds but 65 since the beginning of this journey with meeting the nutritionist and RN etc.

I was in a stall for almost a month...but last Monday I had FINALLY lost 5 pounds so now I'm only allowed to weigh  myself once a week.  My daughter has hidden my scale.  So I weighed myself today and haven't budged.  I've lost 7 inches off my waist and unfortunately I had all my measurements on my phone but it crashed and lost everything.

I don't think it's anything you're doing wrong, your body is adjusting...and it takes time.  I KNOW how frustrating it can feel BELIEVE me...just put your scale away for a bit....it worked for me.  *well for a little while anyway*

Give yourself credit for what you have done and just keep up the good work..your body will respond :)

Probably not the fastest loser like me.  There are things are you go through your journey that you can do to lose faster...but right now is NOT the time to worry about that at all. In 6 months, if you need ideas, message me...but for now, really it's not something that you need to worry about.  In the mean time, work on your water and walk, walk walk...

Dawn:

I love that chart, I was feeling bad, no weight loss since Christmas but if I look at that I've lost more than the 18 month in the chart.

9 months out.

Thank you

Laurie

Great...had my op a week ago today and am still 3 pounds heavier than when I had it! I am having trouble getting enough protein in. Did better today as I managed a whole protein shake. Things taste abnormally sweet to me. I am not walking a lot as I also had a hernia and some other stuff done but I do move around the house and do dishes etc to at least be up and a bit mobile. Anyone else still over pre op weight a week later?

What are you doing wrong?

Nothing.

This is normal.

I had OHIP approved Duodenal Switch surgery with Dr. Dennis Hong at St. Joseph's Hamilton on March 7th, 2012. Want more information on the DS in Ontario? Send me a private message!
