Question
I was told the same thing - that it was due to the gas they pumped into my tummy during surgery.
Then I discussed it with an OR nurse, and she said that I should consider the way they keep your airways clear during surgery - you're intubated with pressurized air going in for a period of time. She told me that most patients experience discomfort for 2-3 days, then the air works its way out of you.
Dunno.
I don't remember having that when I had WLS, but I do remember having shoulder pain for my gallbladder surgery. At that time I was told that they couldn't give me anything for it because it was from the air they pumped into me for the surgery. I did have ab pain as well, I managed to get somewhat comfortable sitting in a chair and fell asleep. When I woke up the shoulder pain was gone enough that I could lay back in bed and relax the ab pain.
Hopefully the air goes soon.
