When Will I Start to Feel Like Myself

I'm almost four weeks post op and still feel like hell.  I still have a little pain but the big problem is my lack of energy. I could sleep my life away and I just don't feel well. It's not like I had a ton of energy before surgery but this is ridiculous. I know we all heal differently but I'm tired of feeling like crap.

I think it's pretty safe to say that your body is going through a LOT right now - it's doing stuff that just zaps your energy. :(

Are you taking B12 already? Iron? Maybe those things are low, causing you to be even more tired than normal?

I hope you start feeling better soon - and I'm sure some of the others will chime in with their post-op experiences.

Hang in there!

Hi Sylvie,

Last Thursday I had my surgery. I still take naps actually just woke from a 2 1/2 hour one . I'm still very tender and a bit slow. I'm trying to get all my vitamins in but miss a few here and there.
The eating regime is not working got me so I just try and pace myself and log everything I eat ( even if I had a bowel movement at what time of the day).
If your really not feeling right call the bariatric clinic and just confirm but I'm not even sure how too really feel vs. how I should be healing. Try a walk, sip on water and do your best. That's all we really can do huggs

It's a great thing we did but it can suck when your unsure if your feelings are what we are to be feeling.

For me it was at the 5 - 6 week mark when I started to feel like my energy was coming back. I think the reason was that I was now eating some food instead of purees and liquids. Plus make sure you are taking your vitamins especially B12 and iron they help with the energy.

Hi Sylvie, i have read a lot of posts with the complaints about lack of energy after this surgery. I spoke to a lady today in Dr Hagans office that was 4 months post op and still has low energy. He put on iron pills and she has to up her protein as well she said.I am sure in time it will get better. Some have said it takes longer than others. I hope you start feeling better soon. And congrats on your weight loss so far... Krista..

Refered Jan 15/13..Surgery June 27/13 , Dr Hagan.
