Stupid question...
I am not sure what th epsychologist talks about as i have my own doctor and just saw a social worker. I am sure you will do just fine. Just keep it honest and whatever they decide will be in your best interest. If the surgery is not right now then it could be after some additional therapy. It's all just a guess until you see him/her. I have had my surgery questioned because of my mental health but they did not give me a no. They just want to make sure i am ready for the psychological changes that happen with the surgery and weight loss . They discussed the medical program with me and are letting me decide what I want to do. So chin up and just take some deep breaths...things will go just the way they are meant to...have faith...you will be fine
Since I have a Panic Disorder, that was what we talked about. It was very low key. She just wanted to be sure I was using good coping techniques and that my anxiety was being managed with my meds. The whole purpose of meeting all the professionals is to see if you are 'strong' enough mentally and physically to handle the surgery and the determination required to live on the bariatric diet for life. People can gain everything back if they are not mentally prepared and/or have unrealistic expectations. So, all that to say don't sweat it. Its unlikely that your GP would have referred you for the surgery if he/she felt that you were not a good candidate. Will all of my appointments, i.e. social worker, dietician, they covered many of the same topics and were very repetitive. I work with two Psychiatrist. They are regular people who like to chat and decided to go to school forever!!!! Actually, one of the Psychiatrist I work with recently had the surgery. he is doing very well and is a great support.
You'll be fine. Bring out your awesome sense of humor and you will be fine!
