Like you, my spouse was very much against me having the surgery.... until she started coming to the support group and all the hospital meetings. She attends every one with me and has informed herself about every aspect of the life-changing surgery.
Encourage him to go with you to the various meetings and ask questions and inform himself.
I wish you well.
That's great news first step in your journey to a new healthier life.

I would suggest you take your partner to the orientation with you and to the surgeons appointments that will help him understand and also let him know most spouses/partners worry about this process. I know mine did and he is a huge supporter now.
Everyone has to wait for OHIP approval and surgery. How quick it happens depends on the various locations, pre-op testing, your availability and the surgeons's/hospital's availability. The only way faster is out of province self pay. It doesn't matter what kind of plan you have.
Use your wait time to read, read, read and mentally prepare for the surgery and the emotional and physical changes that you will undergo.
I had VSG 18 months ago and am happy with my results and the process.
Hi Paula,
I wasn't trying to imply I was going to "line jump", just that my doctor's office is fond of hounding. I have a big history of medical treatment, and 99% of the time, you get things to happen faster by being a nuisance. I had to self-advocate all the time and be insistent to get treatment for my Crohn's. I don't know that it will work in this case, but it doesn't hurt to try!
I'm glad that you are happy with your VSG. You have had fantastic results! Good for you.
