Hotels near Scarborough hospii

Can you tell me which hotels are near Scarborough Hospital, and does anyone know about hospital rates?  Are there any places available to patients only (Hamilton has the Mark Preece Huse which is ony for patients and their families, and is available at very reasonable rates).  Just exploring my options.  Thanks.

Hi Monica... I live in Scarborough and have been the last 20+ years. As in all areas there are good and bad. But to label Scarborough as sketchy is wrong. I truly take offense to that. There are no hotels around the hospital ( if your talking about Scarborough general) but there is a decent Howard Johnson's 401/warden and another one ( can't remember the hotel name) off Victoria pk/ 401).
Just a note to everyone lets not label people or places if we don't truly know what we are talking about. The news is not something to go by. Hope you can find something.

Which location are you at as there are several.  Have you checked their website to see if they have a list of accommodation?  You might want to explore an executive rental - via a real estate agent.  You would rent a fully furnished condo for the weeks you are here. Cheaper than a hotel and much more like home.  No need to eat out unless you want to , full laundry, etc.  Decide what you need (walk in shower, two beds, recliner, etc. ) and then get in touch with a real estate agent in that area.  You probably be looking at less than 3000 for a month and you will probably get facilities like pool area, BBQ, exercise room for your mate, etc. Just make sure you let them know you want a safe area where you can walk at night alone as there are some bad areas in Scarborough.

If you already know an agent for a real estate firm that also is in Toronto than start with them and they can direct you to what is available for you to look online.  If you narrow it down to a few places, I would be willing to go have a look at them for you to give you some peace of mind. Lol wow... the hospital on ellesmere and the one on McCowan as well as scarborough grace are in decent areas. For us especially who have been judged why are you judging? Please come to Scarborough with an open mind.. There are a lot of beautiful areas and homes here, Nature trails and plenty more.

Not dissing Scarborough. I would say the same for Toronto or Mississauga. Of course there are more great areas than bad areas.

....I too live in scarborough and in social housing and take offense when labeled that scarborough is scary and dangerous...it's not the area that makes it scary or dangerous its the people that chose to do bad... I've heard it all and I am always defending where i live because people only hear the bad but there is more good than bad where i live but no one remembers that...i hate being labelled because i come from Scarborough.. i am proud to raise my children here...Please don't judge or assume is all i'm saying...

Thanks for the info everyone.  I am going to call the drs office tomorrow to find out a few more things and make plans from there.  I am fortunate that my niece works occasionally in a plastics clinic, so she is thinking I might be better off in a hotel for a couple of days after surgery, hence the questions.  Thanks again.  If you ever want to ask a question about Thunder Bay, I'd be happy to answer!  LOL!
