Plastics Question
Hi Everyone..
I have a question for the vets or those who have had or are having plastics.. I am 2 years post op and as I'm sure many of you can relate I have a large saggy stomach (pani). I'm not interested in the whole 9 yards of plastics.. The skin above my naval is pretty tight and doesn't cause me any issues. I'm wanting to get below my naval taken care of for health and hygiene reasons only. I love jogging and working out but the extra skin and weight pull so bad that it causes a lot of pain. And of course I get skin rashes/ infections because of the trapped moisture. I go to my clinic next week for my 2 year check up but I won't be seeing my surgeon and it's a few months wait before I can get an appointment to see him. So I was wondering, is it possible to have my family doctor send a referral to Dr. Nan? (he's the closest to me, that I feel I would be comfortable with). Or does the referral have to come from my surgeon? My family doctor is the one who has treated me for all the skin infections and breakdowns from the excess skin. Also, will Dr. Nan do a panni removal alone, or will I have to upgrade or have something else done (if the panni removal gets OHIP approval)?
Thanks bunches!!!!

Yes, family doctor, or any doctor really, can refer you. I just had my surgery done last Friday. Many people only have panni surgery - ps will recommend for you. Please remember that they are the experts and can see things that you do not, so don't be offended if they suggest more work. After going through this, I am glad I had the extra done, but for me, it was obvious I needed the works. Good luck. The wait for Dr. Nan is long.
Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora. Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.
