Bowel Blockage

Well the pain started yesterday afternoon, 2 weeks post op, and the vomiting soon after. I was going to ignore it in the hopes that it was a bad reaction from one of my purees.

My wonderful manfriend insisted I go to emerg. Got there, they said it was urgent but not enough to bump. I collapsed in the ER bathroom and they rushed me in. Tests, NG tube and confirmed blockage.

Man! I won't be ignoring symptoms anymore. Terrible pain, not sure of what's next but first time I had buyers remorse.

We are have buyers remorse at times - that is all normal.

You are in great hands and I'm sure you will be aback on track in no time.

Give yourself time - and best of luck!

Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

Wow!! glad your manfriend was onhand to help you out!

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

Good on you that you heeded your friend's advice and went in to the ER. We have to be strong advocates for ourselves, and also educate our loved ones on symptoms to take seriously and what to ask for on our behalf in case we are unable to! My husband has the #for the hospital, the clinic, and the surgeon's office programmed into his phone. We did that even before surgery, just to be safe.
