Just an FYI for anyone going through St. Joes in Hamilton and is very early in the process...I had my orientation July 22. I was told I would get a letter a month later. Hadn't received anything so I called to check and was told it will be another month just to get a letter as they are short staffed. They also said to expect my first appointments in April because that's when they are booking now. Yikes. Just a bit frustrating seeing some people are 5 mths from orientation to surgery. We too will have our moment : )

When I went to orientation last october they said it would take at least 1yr to 18 months for surgery.  They were wrong, My first set of appointments were in February and all the rest were in mar/april and surgery was May.8th.  I wish you the best of luck and hopefully everything moves quicker than what they are telling you.

Hang in there, i feel the same way, going through Sudbury, had my orientation in april, probably looking at surgery in april/may 2014. Seems like forever, but realistically only a year, not so bad.

Wow that's crazy. My orientation was in January of this year, first set of apts in June, surgeon in July, surgery in August.

They told me at my one week follow up that they wee short staffed. Hopefully it will speed up, I know the frustration.

I always counted on 1 year and 1 month. Anything before that was great.

From referral to surgery in Hamilton, it was almost exactly one year and one month. Orientation to surgery was 9 months.

Take the time to make plans and think about life changes. Start making a few,eg. diet soda and caffeine and drinking tons of water. The time is well spent and it will go faster than you think.

I think the wait list for Hamilton is HUGE!  I live in literally 15 minutes from there and they sent me to Toronto instead....when I asked why they told me that the list is just too long in Hamilton. :(  I agree though that the whole process seems like a long time, but it goes quickly.

Good Luck on your journey!
