I have PATTS scheduled at TEGH next week in the morning and I'm trying to book something in the afternoon but I have no idea when ill be done my appointment.

My appointment is for 10am, I was thinking I should plan for an hour - is that about right or will it be longer?

It's pre-op assessment and testing. I'm not really sure what is involved.

hi PepperBB

is your surgery at TWH?

the P.A.T.T.S at TWH is actually just called the Pre-Op appointment and that was booked and given to me on the same piece of paper as the surgery date...... as well as they gave me a soft sided binder full of pre admission information and I have to bring that to the Pre-Op appointment.

No, its at St. Mikes. I am finding this part of the process a little more difficult as it is not at TWH and they are not great at getting back to you right away.

I was not given anything when I was at my Surgeon mtg, I came, we met, I filled out the optifast and that was it.I got the call with my date 2 weeks later.

that's what baffles me through this whole process is the difference in procedures from hospital to hospital............... within Ontario!!

I dont know how long it takes at TEGH but at HRRH it says 2.5-3hours on the sheet..and it took me about 5 hours to get blood work, talk to the anesthesiologist and talk with the RN. Some people have to have ECG and other testing depending on the person...most of which as you can imagine I was just sitting around waiting!

that is helpful.  Hopefully someone can give their experience at TEGH but based on this I think I'd better move my 1PM appointment for that day as I have  1 1/2 hrs travel time after the appointment.

I was at TEGH for mine and it took me 2 hours (appt at 11:30 done at 1:30). Make sure you arrive early as you have to register first then go onto the clinic.

You will meet the pharmacist first, anesthesiologist, nurse, who will take blood, bacteria culture and an ecg., internist doctor will go over your chart and giv you the all clear after that the last one you see is the nurse practicioner.

hope this helps
