time off during Opti???
I dont know hun.. But Im starting on Nov 5th. Im wondering if I m gonna make it the entire 4 weeks at work.
Im considering asking my doctor to write me off work the last 1.5 of it.
Not sure what kinda head space Im gonna be that close to surgery.
Im a social worker in a high stressed environment.
I think it will be hard for a teacher too no?

i'm a teacher and i booked time off for this whole escapade. no way would i have been able to manage a new school, lesson plans, 90 teenagers, and workplace politics - along with my own personal life.
i suggest giving yourself time to 'breath' before and after. speaking for myself, this is not only a physical journey, but an emotional/psychological one. i need the time and am definitely taking it.
but at the end of the day -- only you know your threshold and what feels right.
Did you use vacation time? or get your doc to write you off? Im trying to figure out what to say to my doc.
I dont have vacation time to use. But I have plenty of sick days banked.

i have a decent amount of sick days available, so i am taking them.
i know docs can be odd. my doc is pretty decent and he knows my life over the past 3 years. he supports my journey 110% so has no issues writing me notes. but that is the kind of guy he is and the kind of dynamic i have with him.
speaking from my own perspective ofco, i think we really need to realize that this obesity problem we have goes beyond a physical symptoms and surgical procedure. our mind and lifestyle helped get us to where we are today. i think we deserve some time to 'take care of the whole'.
if one can afford that time, ofco.
teaching and social work are crazy professions. we think of ourselves last. i'm thinking of myself first from now on.
IMHO.
I agree with you 100%.
I don't think my doc will give me too much of a problem w writing me off. I have an appointment booked for nov 18th. Maybe I can ask him to write me off the last 1.5 weeks.
I have tons of sick time saved up. I can't imagine being at work that time before work. Can't wrap my head around that.
I am on day 12 of Opti and i don't think i would of been able to work. Everyone differs but the first few days I was far to ill to function and the Opti-Trots can cause a lot of problems too. Stay positive about the experience but also be prepared if things don't go as well as you would like :)
