Time Off?

I am new to the forum and just starting my weight loss journey.  I am trying to get all the information I can to make sure I am aware of everything that I need to do, and what the process entails. I appreciate all the posts and information I have already. This is a great place for information and support.
My question is, how much time off work am I looking at? I read somewhere 4 - 6 weeks. That seems like a lot. Don't know if I can get that kind of time off. Is this correct what I read?

It really depends on what you do. I am an HR manager so I am mostly in the office. I took 2 weeks. I have a full kitchen available to me at work though so that makes a difference too. You need to be able to eat and drink almost all the time at the beginning.

I have a desk job and was off 6 weeks. I wanted to be on a somewhat regular diet before going back to work. Plus the first 4 weeks you have your hands full just getting all your daily requirements.

Thanks for your responses. I work for a doctor, and she is very flexible and understanding. I sit at a desk mostly. Hoping not to be off too long as I can't afford the time off. *fingers crossed

I saved three weeks of my vacation so as to not have any interruption in pay ie short term at 66%, I have a fridge and washroom right in my office so it made it nice.  My center recommended 6 weeks. Welcome to the forum

I wondered the same and came to the conclusion that it is best to plan for the 6 weeks and if you don't need them after all then just go back earlier.  You don't the stress of a strict time limit when you are healing.  Just my opinion.  good luck!

Just incase anyone else is wondering....because I work as a nurse on a heavy floor I had 7 weeks off with 4 weeks of modified duties. Feeling great. I believe you need at least 4 weeks to heal properly and feel well.

This is major surgery. You need time to heal. I was off four weeks and was tired the first week back. I have a desk as well. However I am probably older than you.

Talk to your surgeon and center.

Hi there,
I had surgery on the 21st. My doctor took me off until November 18th (4 weeks).
I feel like I could go back to work. I have several appointments next week, so that's what's holding me back. I'm bored at home.
