Corned beef hash???

I've seen on the main forum, a lot of Americans talking about it and my thoughts were similar to yours. I think they mean this canned stuff though from further reading. I made a roast beef in my slow cooker with veggies and then pureed it and it was great. I did the same with chicken and veggies. I think I'd leave the corned beef alone myself.
Guelph said no red meats for 6 months, but i think it was more a texture thing.

corned beef is fantastic and can be quite delicious. i am planning on having it during my pureed stage.
yes, it is not the leanest choice. however, i am rationalizing it based on the amount i will be able to eat. a small amount of something like this, for me, is totally acceptable. and i know it will be VERY satisfying to finally be able to eat something like.
it sounds like you are not very familiar with corned beef to begin with. some love it (like me) while some hate. very nice with mashed potatoes. you can cook it down well and it really gets soft and extremely/moist/wet, the fat gives a juice of very nice flavour.
i plan on it being one of my go-too items when i feel like 'splurging'.
Just a reminder and speaking from first hand experience - Corned beef is made from the Fatty part of the brisket and thus the fat may set your pouch a rising. It happened to me on the day of my wifes WLS which was 2 months after mine - i missed her bringing her to the room from the OR cause i was hurling after eating corned beef from the deli downstairs at TWH .
So out of curiosity I ran to the store to get some for lunch because I haven't really been eating anything but chilli. I found Puritan corned beef hash in a can, got home and opened it - smelled exactly like dog food. Looked exactly like dog food. I warmed it up anyway to see if heat would change the texture and it did a bit, started to smell more like roast beef. I had two or three bites of it and tossed the rest - the texture was just gross. But it hasn't hurt my stomach at all, and I ate it about 45 minutes ago. So if the fat, the look of it and the texture doesn't bother you it's probably a good source of protein... But I'll stick to chilli :p
I have some my aunt made for me that's frozen, but I've also been having some from Tim Hortons and buying cans of "traditional beef chilli" by President's Choice. My aunt's is a little too spicy for me and the PC kind has zero spice. Hoping to get some made this weekend but my sister in law has my crock pot!
For meals I do about 1/2 a cup. Sometimes I'll have 1/2 a cup of chilli or soup, and then have a little something after too, like half a container of yogurt or a few mouthfuls of beans. My usual snack is 1 cup of a protein shake or 2 saltines and one Laughing Cow wedge - love that stuff. I could eat it all day long so I have to be really careful and only have it once a day, because the carbs can get high. Breakfast is usually an egg and two pieces of melba toast. I'm getting pretty bored of that though so might try oatmeal tomorrow.
