Does the Bariatric Clinic notify our family Dr. about our surgery date

I was just wondering or should I inform my Dr. of my date for surgery?

Your GP will find out,,,there is a short physical you have to have him/her complete within 30 days of surgery.

Post op reports etc will be copied to your GP during the process.

I just saw my GP this week for a different issue and she has NOT received a single report from HRRH.  My surgery date is Jan 21/14 but she has not received a single note or test result from the team.  I am calling them to make sure she is cc'd so I would suggest the same if you want them in the loop.

My doctor got no information.  She also didn't have to do a physical prior to surgery. 

My doctor has received all my information from both Kingston and HRRH - Just keep in mind as the patient it is our responsibility to make sure to give the hospital permission to provide that information to your GP. It is not something done automatically

Depending on what hospital you are going through.
In Ottawa they send a short report to your doctor after your one week follow up.
I asked for copies of my blood tests to give to my doctor. I also asked for a detailed report to be sent as I was the first patient of my doctor to have surgery and she wanted to know what she would need to do.

my surgeon emailed and faxed my report from surgery to my doctor the day after the procedure.

My family doctor received the reports after l was sent home from Guelph from my surgery, but received nothing prior.  

If your GP is going to be the one taking your staples out afterwards, you might want to call and let them know your date and set up an appt for about one week after surgery.
