Waiting for Hotel Dieu (Kingston) Bookings

So I am waiting for 5 tests/specialist appointments to be booked which are:  Cardiologist, "Breath" test (h-pylori), Sleep Study, Endoscopy and Abdominal Ultrasound.  Furtively checking my mailbox each day and nothing.  Wanting to continue getting the show on the road and especially want to know when the abdominal ultrasound is (as it will be in Ottawa) and need to book a day off work.

Did anyone find they waited a long time in Kingston for these notifications?  I am expecting they will come all at once!

 

 

 

Don't know about Kingston per se, but for your apt in Ottawa be prepared for a wait. I had my orientation in Ottawa in September and am still waiting for a call back with a date for my first assessment, which I am sure will be next year now.  I call and one person tells me one month, then next tells me 2-3 months until I get a call. Not consistent at all but we are at their mercy so there is nothing to be done but wait. Makes me so angry. Anyhow, my advice to you would be to call your centre and ask them about it - just to make  sure everything is in order.  Will Hotel Dieu eventually be performing surgeries as well?  Eastern Ontario really needs more than just Ottawa.  People in Toronto etc. are getting their surgery in as little as 3 months while Ottawa patients are told 1 to 2 years. Ok I will stop complaining now. sorry.  good luck!

The scopes take the longest to get.. Why do you have to go to Ottawa for your abdominal ultrasound. Mine was done right at KGH and was done really quickly. The h-pylori breath tests needs to be done 1 month after you complete the antibiotics. sleep study took a while for me to get as well. 

You will get calls from each department for the tests. The only one you will get from the bariatric center is the appointment to go in and review the sleep study results.

actually, I meant the endoscopy needs to be done in Ottawa....easy to get them mixed up when there is so many!  they want to send me to Ottawa for the endoscopy as the wait is sooo long in Kingston.  I shouldn't really complain tho, I've clipped a lot pretty good so far since my referral in July.  I guess that's why any waiting seems a bit frustrating now.

I had six appointments with the sleep apnea

The actual sleep test. Two with the sleep educator. Two with Medigas and the final one (which the bariatric team called about) with the Sleep physician.

It's a long haul but it gives u time to make changes and educate yourself.

so I went through Kingston also, infact...I am the fastest patient that went through Kingston to date. 5 Months from info session to surgery. I only had the ultra sound and endo done. I called the Belleville hospital were i had my tests scheduled...and got appts right then and there. In fact the endo was sitting not even looked at due to something..cant remember yet. but they booked me right there on the phone for the next week. Thats also how I got my appts in Toronto. I went through HRRH. Call to see if they got the referral and then ask when can you come !!! I wish you the best of luck...if you have any questions please do hesitate to ask !!!
