Hi, i just wondered if there was anyone else who had VSG that had cramps and loose stools after eating when on full fluids.  The cramps are pretty strong and I do have IBS so i don't know if I should be taking my prescribed Imodium for it.  I have taken Imodium for years when having this type of problem but not sure if I can still have it after the VSG.  Called the clinic and it is closed today so not quite sure how to handle it.  I think it is all the dairy irritating things....especially in the cream soup.

Well, I have ulcerative colitis and know that unless you head any problem off at the start, it can snowball.  Because  Sleevers don't malabsorb I would think you can take your Imodium. I did have loose stool once just around the 8 day mark, but it did go away.  I find I need to take prunes daily to keep things moving along, so perhaps your system is just readjusting.

A friend had VSG and was the same way, really watery stool the first month or so.  She took Imodium for it.

Thank you...I decided to go ahead with the Imodium today.  It has definitely helped :)

That sounds more like lactose intolerance, which I have. I remember reading somewhere that people can acquire this after surgery but I think it was RNY not VGS.

Imodium is fine, I have the opposite problem as far as bowel issues go.

I'm wondering if the dairy has something to do with it, it hasn't agreed with me either, but it effected me another way,

I couldn't keep anything with milk in it down at all, and the dietition suggested I maybe lactose intolerant since surgery.

Good Luck...:-)
