a snack for those of us allergic to fish - but can eat shell fish

hey there ---

some of you were posting snack ideas for the 'on-the-go' type of person.  however, most of them pointed towards tuna snacks.  alas, i am anaphylactic to all things fish so even though the ideas were fantastic, i was left in the lurch.

my friend reminded me that canned chicken and shellfi****ems are available.  i went to check them out and picked up a couple cans of shredded crab meat and chicken.  now, they do require some serious seasoning to make them palpable, but i was actually able to come up with something half decent with the crab meat.  check it out if you dare:

1 can of crab meat, drained.

1/2 cup of 1% cottage cheese,

Mrs Dash (per taste)

1 close mashed garlic.

I mixed them all together and it tasted quite nice!  You can pulse puree it a wee bit if you need a smooth consistancy, but for the most part, with some serious chewing, it went down ok.  along with 1 melba toast and it totally satisfied me for lunch.  i only had just under a tbsp serving with my melba toast and along with the sharp garlic flavour ( i LOVE garlic) it has really satisfied me.

]crab meat has a decent amount of protein in it per serving as well - along with the cottage cheese and it is a pretty decent meal option.

God knows i need more meal ideas.  i am always on the go and seem dumbfounded to think of recipies to prepare ahead of time.  i think i will ask santa for a bariatric cook book for Christmas.  :)

I have cut and pasted this in my file...thank you - many I'd kill for some of that right now!

One book that was suggest on here that I bought was - The complete weight-loss surgery guide & diet program - written by Sue Ekserci, RD w/Dr Laz Klein, MD - they also worked with the folks at HRRH.

I like it a lot. Half the book is about WLS nutrition etc. Second part has 150 recipies...i got it on amazon.
