Vitimins and minerals post op
I can't find my paperwork from HRRH about what my vitimins and minerals are suppose to be after surgery.
Can a post op / vet give me the break down, please
thanks

Calcium 1500mg/day
Vit B12 350 mcg/day
2 x multi vitamins - has to have 4mg iron
Vit D is usually in the Calcium
plus the 60-80 g protein.
I now take a full spectrum vit B so hopefully my memory is recalling the proper amount for that one! The chewable ones are so much better, they are easier to get down and we were told not to take the Calcium + Vit D with the other vitamins. I got the chocolate chewy calcium +D and VitaVim chewable multis by Jamieson. The Vit B12 is a capsule and I also added a chewable Vit C and Probiotic which seems to help with diarreah! Hope that helps out!

I recently found out probiotics helps with Gas caused by fiber! Whew.. Totally saved me there
Look for the Calcium in citrate form as it absorbed much better. The White box of Jamieson Calcium Chewies is the best. The Green box is a mix of calcium carbonate and citrate. Costco has them both and Costco also has Oh Yeah Protein bars at a good price and also Detour Protein Bars. Its my go-to store for the above. I also had a hankering for pickles and roasted red peppers which costco has, and don't forget the Kellogs Protein cereal which has 10g of protein in 3/4 cup which is also available at Costco. I have that every morning with Scotidakos Greek Yogourt which has 18g protein and both those sit well on my stomach! The Yogourt is offered at Rabba stores for 3,99 - every day price...

I had surgery at St. Joe's Toronto and they follow the same guidelines as HRRH.
2 multivitamins per day with 18 mg of iron in each pill
1500 to 2000 mg of Calcium Citrate
D3 is 2000 IU in the summer and 3000 IU in the winter
B12 is 1000 mcg every other day, 350 mcg every day or a shot once per month

I was buying One a Day for Women 50 Plus. If you go to places like Shopper's or Walmart, they often have their own brand right next to it for a fraction of the price with the same numbers. Walmart no longer makes their generic brand of it but I think i saw them at Loblaws pharmacy or Shopper's with the store brand right next to it. I was also told at my 6 month that I can take the pre-natal vitamins if I want to as they have lots of iron in one pill and now I only take one per day of those but will see how my labs are and decide if I should go back to two per day. I picked up the Equate brand of Materna at Wal-mart to use until my next set of bloodwork.
