Congrats on making it through your fist day (night) back.

May I ask what kind of work you do (on your feet the whole time or more desk job work)?  I am planning on taking just a little under three weeks before my return, but my job is administrative and frankly, most of my day is sitting at a desk.  I'm pretty sure I will be able to pull it off.

Hi Cindy, I'm a nurse and work 12 hour shifts, but not on a typical floor. I worked ICU for 23 years ( which I never would have gone back to in that amount of time) I work in a small area of emerg for psychiatric crisis, so depending on the aquity depends on amount of time at my desk.

I can tell you during the first week post op my plan was to go back the next week ( at that time I was doing flu vaccine clinics for occ. health) couldn't do it......but this week it seems I got my mojo back, I am doing two nights

I am also not full time, not sure I'd be up to a full time schedule, basically I'll be doing 24-30 hrs per week for the next few weeks, which so far, seems to be a nice transition.

I slept like a baby today, just got up actually, having a protein shake with my vitamins then off to the shower and in for another shift.

I think if you have a plan but are flexible with it you'll be good. Not sure if you recall but I ended up in ER one night with abd pain....that did set me back a few days in terms of energy etc.

Listen to your body and you can't go wrong!

Cheers

Terri

I went back Monday after 4 weeks off. My job is hard, but I wanted to go back after weeks. I felt good. I am tired though.
