Crushed pills

I cannot do crushed Tylenol or back meds any more. No matter what I mix it with the bitterness is overwhelming. I am going to cut them in half and swallow those halves with water from now on. Good idea? (I'm 6 days out)

Thanks,

Jennifer

Why are you crushing them?   Was that per surgeon's instructions?

You'll be ok, just cut in to small pieces and take them with lots of water :)

Thanks, all. In hospital the nurses crushed all my pills even one that is already tiny. I was also told to have meds in chewable or liquid form for the first bit of time post op. That is why I have been crushing them.

Guelph hospital had me taking my pills whole.  I take prevacid, thyroid med, stool softener, Tylenol whole... my anti biotitic was the size of a peanut m&m that one I split into 2. It was a little too hard to do with my throat and ear infection. I have no issues, meds are suppose to dissolve so it won't get stuck.

I'm about 18 months out and still crush my pills (the non chewable ones) and take apart any capsules.  The bitter ones I take with a spoonful of sugar free chocolate pudding, I am not going to pay for medication and then see it come out whole at the other end.  I don't believe we have enough intestine or hydrocloric acid to break down the enteric coatings on medication.  Just my opinion but I'm probably going to do this forever.

OMG!! I am sorry.. I just burst out into laughter at your statement "I am not going to pay for medication and then see it come out whole at the other end."

That won't happen. I have NEVER had that happen to me and I take them whole. I have even taken meds such as liquid dayquil with the gel and it was perfectly fine.

I only crushed my meds/vitamins for 2 days and that was enough for me. I bought a pill splitter and cut the big ones down. They said that as long as they were about the size of an m&m, that was fine to take it that way.

At 18months out, you should be perfectly fine taking meds/ vitamins normally!! :)

BELOW GOAL        Happily maintaining 4.5 years out!!   Life is GREAT!!!  Had my plastic surgery!
