Yep, my skin is feeling like a dried out fish carcass (yech, i know!!!). I'm getting a lot of water in but it doesn't seem to be helping.

Me too. I've got lizard legs and even my eyelids are dried out. I think it must have something to do with not getting enough water even though we think we are - maybe our healing bodies need even more? Or perhaps it's toxins leaving our system, and drying out our skin? Just moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!!

It's funny. I've never really focussed on that kind of thing before (moisturizing)... I guess because I'm sooo not a girly girl. But now I feel; a) more attuned with how all parts of my body react and respond to different things, and b) that I need to start taking better care of this thinning-and-soon-to-be-stunning body of mine!

I switched to using either Dove or Aveeno body wash for my showers. I also use aveeno moisturizer. It has really helped. I had dry skin before WLS

with my thyroid condition and winter weather I look like have dandruff of the entire body!  Pam is right moisturizing body washes do help. I also use Noxzema on my face... for my body (I think I am an extreme case) I use a food grade coconut oil $$$ but I don't need alot.

My hands seem to be suffering the most, I was washing them too much (cold season) and being home I am constantly cleaning something... must buy dish gloves.

Have you tried raw unrefined shea butter as a body lotion? It melts down in to an oil and is cheaper than coconut oil if you buy a big tub of it. If you blend it with a bit of coconut oil it's the most moisturizing thing ever :)

I haven't had surgery yet but I have noticed my fingers and hands are very very dry....almost prune like. I put a bottle of lotion by my computer so I am triggered to put it on during the day.

I've lost 15 lbs on Optifast so far. Maybe it's weight loss that causes this?

I have been told by a few people that prune fingers are a sign of an electrolyte imbalance, but not sure if that's the truth or not. I was just hoping it was from shrinking fingers :p My fingers are always slightly pruney, but when I'm cold they look like I just spent an hour in the pool!

This year is the worst for my skin!

I have been using lotion (St Ives daily moisturizer) a few times a day on my arms and legs. My gf gave me "Super rich Coconut oil" It's actullay hair conditioning stuff BUT I have been putting it on my legs and they are MUCH better!! She said she got it at walmart in the hair section.

I am pre-op but my skin is very dry this time of year, especially my feet for some reason. Best for my feet is after a foot soak (or a bath or shower will do) to rub petroleum jelly thickly all over them.  Then put on old 2 pairs of old socks to lock in the moisture, and go to bed.  As you sleep your feel with soften and feel so much better upon waking. Works great for hands too - just put on gloves instead.  Best thing is it is cheap and uses something most people already have at home.  Although more expensive, I also really love coconut oil for dry skin - and the smell is just amazing, like aromatherapy at the same time. Hope you feel less dry soon!
