I have a Colonoscopy on January 7th. I just had surgery October 21st. I need to drink so much water. I can't really drink much. Do I call the doctor? I have a colonoscopy every year because of a previous cancer (3 years ago). Thoughts? You need to drink 4 glasses of water after you drink the pico salax.

Worried.

angryDarn, I never thought of that, I have the same procedure coming up in the new year as well, how will we drink all that? Plus it doesn't stay in our pouch .... Curious to hear what others may have done.

wow -- i never even though of this.  i have to get regular screening as well --

honestly,  i think all you can do is your best!!  if you follow the protocol, i think even if you don't get through all the required liquid, you should still get a decent clean-out for the procedure.  perhaps you should have a conversation with your surgeon/oncologist and see what they say.

please post any info you get on this (or message me directly).  my time will come in a years time so it will be useful for me to know how you fare.

all the best!  ;)

Thanks ladies. I will call my surgeons office (the doctor doing the colonoscopy) and explain my situation. He has no idea I had weight loss surgery.

Just a thought but how about asking your Bariatric surgeon to do your screening.  I know of others that have asked their surgeons to do their routine follow up.  They already know the modifications required for you.

It would be an inconvenience for me. I would need to travel to Toronto. My situation is particular and I would rather my surgeon (*****moved the cancer) do it. I trust him. I thought Dr. Smith could do it. He's now at North York General.

I called today, the receptionist will get back to me.

definitely talk to the dr.  I had one about 2 years after VSG and I could only drink about 1/3 of the stuff prior.  Once it started coming back up, I stopped.  They were still able to perform the exam.  The nurse that checked me in said it's very common for people to not be able to fini**** all...and she was referring to people with normal stomachs, not those who have had WLS.
